NDAA-compliant drones are unmanned aircraft that meet the sourcing requirements set by the National Defense Authorization Act, meaning they are not manufactured by companies restricted under U.S. law. Under the American Security Drone Act of 2023, folded into the FY2024 NDAA, federal agencies and federally funded entities are restricted from buying or operating drones from covered foreign manufacturers, including DJI and Autel. An NDAA-compliant drone is built outside that restricted supply chain.
Importantly, NDAA-compliant does not mean American-made. It includes U.S.-built aircraft as well as drones from trusted allied nations, such as ACSL of Japan and Parrot of France. If your requirement is simply that the aircraft be free of a restricted supply chain, this is the category to shop.
