Freefly SL8 Battery Travel Case
The Freefly SL8 Travel Case is a hard, wheeled transport case purpose-built to move and protect SL8-Air smart batteries and SL8 Fast Chargers in the field. The case body is an SKB 3i-1914-8B-E shell rated to MIL-STD 810H, waterproof and dust-tight, with custom Freefly foam that holds up to eight batteries and two chargers, or up to fourteen batteries flying solo. Rolling casters, a stowaway handle, and a Trigger Latch System turn it into a one-bag power kit for travel and deployment.

FAQ
Can I check this case as luggage on a flight?
The case itself is built for transit and is well within standard airline checked baggage size and weight limits when packed. The bigger question is the batteries inside: airlines typically require lithium-ion flight packs (over 100 Wh) to travel in carry-on, not checked baggage, and SL8-Air packs are 157 Wh each. Confirm your carrier's lithium battery policy and Freefly's airline travel guidance before flying, and plan to carry batteries with you and check the case with non-battery contents if needed.
What does MIL-STD 810H mean for this case?
MIL-STD 810H is a US military environmental testing standard covering things like drops, vibration, dust, water ingress, and temperature extremes. The SKB case body that this Travel Case is built around is rated to that standard, meaning it has been tested against those conditions. It is the same family of cases used widely in broadcast, defense, and commercial drone deployments.
How many batteries can I actually fit?
The foam supports two layouts: up to 8 SL8-Air batteries with 2 SL8 Fast Chargers in the same case, or up to 14 SL8-Air batteries if you leave chargers out. The eight-plus-two layout is the common choice for fly days where you want a self-contained power kit; the fourteen-battery layout is better for moving a large bank between sites and charging elsewhere.
Will it survive being left in a hot or cold truck?
The case shell is UV, corrosion, and fungus resistant and is rated for the temperature swings covered by MIL-STD 810H. The lithium-ion batteries inside have their own storage temperature recommendations, so for long-term storage follow Freefly's guidance on SL8-Air storage temperature and charge level rather than the case rating alone.
Does it lock?
The Trigger Latch System secures the lid for transit. The case includes provisions for padlocks or TSA-style locks through the latch points; locks themselves are not included.
Is there room for anything else inside?
The interior foam is cut specifically for SL8-Air batteries and SL8 Fast Chargers, so there is not meaningful loose space for other accessories. Use a separate case or pack for controllers, cables, props, and tools.
