Freefly Astro Extended Landing Gear Set by Sentera
The Astro Extended Landing Gear Set by Sentera is a tall, ski-style landing gear designed specifically for the Freefly Astro and Astro Max. Installed, the legs provide 11 inches of vertical clearance between the Astro Isolator Smart Dovetail payload mount and the ground, giving operators the room they need to fly bulkier sensors, gimbals, and LiDAR payloads without scraping or compromising launch and recovery. The set uses a quick-detach latch so it can be removed for transport or swapped back to the stock gear without tools.
11 inches of payload clearance for the Freefly Astro and Astro Max. Quick-detach ski-style legs in carbon fiber, aluminum, and Delrin.
Features
- Adds 11 in (28 cm) of clearance between the Astro Isolator Smart Dovetail and the ground, making room for larger payloads, gimbals, and LiDAR sensors that would otherwise sit too low on the stock gear
- Ski-style legs spread contact area over a wider footprint for improved stability on grass, gravel, dirt, sand, and uneven terrain
- Quick-detach latch lets the gear come on and off without tools, so the aircraft can switch between extended and stock configurations or break down for transport in minutes
- Lightweight construction: 9.2 oz (260 g) installed, in a carbon fiber, aluminum, and Delrin build chosen for stiffness, low weight, and impact resistance
- Designed by Sentera for the Astro platform, with compatibility across the Astro and Astro Max airframes (subject to the payload limitations noted below)
- Ships as a complete set: two leg assemblies (one full aircraft set including mounts) plus all mounting hardware

What's included
- 2 × Astro Extended Landing Gear assemblies (one complete aircraft set, including the mounting hardware bases)
- 12 × M3 × 8 mm screws
Compatibility
- Compatible with: any Freefly Astro or Astro Max airframe in a standard payload configuration.
- Not compatible with the Emesent Hovermap ST-X. Astro and Astro Max aircraft equipped with the Emesent Hovermap ST-X kit do not work with this landing gear set.
- Not compatible with the Astro Skyview Payload Mount. The mount geometry interferes with the extended legs.
- May interfere with other accessory mounts. Confirm clearance against your specific payload, gimbal, and accessory stack before installation.
Installation and care
- Follow Sentera's published installation procedure. Use the supplied M3 × 8 mm screws and torque them per the manufacturer's instructions; do not substitute longer or shorter hardware.
- The quick-detach latch is designed for repeated use. Inspect the latch mechanism before each flight and confirm both legs are fully seated and locked before takeoff.
- After any hard landing or rough terrain operation, inspect the carbon-fiber legs and Delrin components for cracks, delamination, or hairline damage. Replace any compromised component before returning to flight.
- Keep the latch mechanism clean. Brush off grit and dust after operations in sandy or dusty environments to keep the detach motion smooth and reliable.
Please note: The aircraft, payload, gimbal, and any sensors shown in product photography are sold separately. This listing is the landing gear set only. Lead times on Sentera-shipped items can vary; confirm current availability at checkout.
FAQ
How much clearance does this add compared to the stock Astro landing gear?
The extended set provides 11 in (28 cm) of clearance measured from the Astro Isolator Smart Dovetail down to the ground. That is the total clearance with the extended legs installed, not an incremental addition to the stock gear. If you are flying tall payloads such as the Sentera 6X Thermal Pro, a Freefly Flux LiDAR sensor, or other deep gimbal-mounted hardware, this is the clearance figure to size against.
Does it fit both the original Astro and the Astro Max?
Yes. The set is designed for any Astro or Astro Max airframe in a standard payload configuration. There are a few specific accessory combinations that are not supported (see the Compatibility tab), so check your payload stack before ordering.
Can I use this with the Emesent Hovermap ST-X?
No. Sentera lists the Emesent Hovermap ST-X Astro kit as not compatible with this landing gear set. The Hovermap ST-X has its own mounting and clearance requirements that conflict with the extended legs.
Can I use this with the Astro Skyview Payload Mount?
No. The Astro Skyview Payload Mount is not compatible with the extended landing gear.
How is it installed?
The set uses a quick-detach latch system, so once the mounts are installed on the aircraft with the supplied M3 × 8 mm screws, the legs themselves can be put on and pulled off without tools. That makes it easy to swap back to the stock Astro gear or to break the aircraft down for transport.
How much weight does it add to the aircraft?
Installed weight for the complete set is 9.2 oz (260 g). That added mass reduces flight time slightly compared to the stock landing gear; size your battery and mission planning accordingly for endurance-critical work.
Is this an authentic Sentera part?
Yes. This is the Sentera Astro Extended Landing Gear Set, manufacturer part number 11604-02. It is the same SKU sold through Sentera and the Freefly Store.
