Enhanced vs. standard Enterprise
The RC Plus 2 Enterprise is offered in two trims:
- RC Plus 2 Enterprise (standard). The base enterprise controller with the same 7.02-inch high-bright display, IP54 rating, and O4+ Enterprise transmission. Designed for the same aircraft lineup.
- RC Plus 2 Enterprise Enhanced. Adds expanded interface components for broader PSDK and accessory compatibility, making it the better choice for operators integrating third-party payloads, custom sensors, or specialized industry workflows.
For most enterprise customers running standard DJI payloads on a Matrice 400, M4 Series, or M4D Series aircraft, either trim will fly the aircraft. Operators with PSDK integration plans, custom payload development, or specific industry compatibility requirements should pick the Enhanced trim.
Who this is for
- Replacement. Operators replacing a damaged, lost, or end-of-life RC Plus 2 Enterprise (Enhanced trim) on an existing Matrice 400, M4 Series, or M4D Series aircraft
- Second controller / dual-operator setup. Crews running dual-controller missions where one operator flies and a second operates the gimbal or runs the sensor payload; the RC Plus 2 Enterprise supports DJI's dual-control workflow
- Fleet standardization. Agencies operating mixed M400 / M4 / M4D Series aircraft who want a single controller type across the fleet so pilots can move between aircraft without re-learning hardware
- Standalone purchase. Operators acquiring an aircraft as a separate SKU (such as a dock-only Matrice 4D / 4TD purchase) and pairing it with a controller for occasional manual flights
- PSDK integrators. Customers running third-party payloads on the M4 platform who need the Enhanced trim's expanded interface support for their specific accessory or workflow
What's included
- 1 × DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise Enhanced Remote Controller
Note: This is the standalone controller. The WB37 external battery, USB-C power adapter, optional strap or waist support accessory, DJI Cellular Dongle 2, and any aircraft are sold separately. The internal battery is built into the controller and ships pre-installed.
Setup and operation
- Charge the controller fully before first use. A USB-C PD source rated up to 20 V / 3.25 A (65 W) reaches full charge in approximately 2 hours, whether powering only the internal battery or both internal and external batteries when the WB37 is installed.
- Linking to an aircraft is done through DJI Pilot 2's setup procedure or the aircraft's standard linking process. Refer to the user manual for your specific aircraft model.
- For maximum runtime, install the WB37 external battery (sold separately) before extended missions. The combined internal + external configuration delivers approximately 6 hours of operation.
- For 4G-enhanced transmission in obstructed environments or BVLOS operations, install the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 (sold separately) per DJI's instructions.
- Store the controller in a padded case or sleeve with sticks protected. The most common transport damage on enterprise controllers is broken or bent sticks during case mishandling.
- Verify firmware compatibility between the controller and aircraft before first flight. DJI publishes firmware update procedures in DJI Pilot 2 and through the DJI Enterprise app.
FAQ
Which aircraft does this controller fly?
The DJI Matrice 400, the entire Matrice 4 Series (Matrice 4E and Matrice 4T), and the Matrice 4D Series (Matrice 4D and Matrice 4TD). It is not compatible with older aircraft like the Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 300 RTK, Matrice 30 Series, Mavic 3 Enterprise, or any non-DJI aircraft. Older aircraft use their own dedicated controllers (RC Plus, Smart Controller Enterprise, RC Pro Enterprise).
What's the difference between Enhanced and standard Enterprise?
Both flavors share the same display, transmission system, weather rating, and operating envelope. The Enhanced trim adds expanded interface components for broader PSDK and accessory compatibility, which matters for operators integrating third-party payloads, custom sensors, or specialized industry hardware. If you're flying stock DJI payloads, either trim will work; if you're integrating custom or third-party hardware, the Enhanced trim is the safer choice.
Does it come with batteries and a charger?
The controller has a built-in 6,500 mAh internal battery, which ships pre-installed and is charged via the controller's USB-C PD input. The optional WB37 external battery and any USB-C power adapter are sold separately. Many enterprise customers already have USB-C PD chargers and WB37 batteries in their kit from other DJI products.
How long does it run on a charge?
Approximately 3.8 hours on the internal battery alone, or approximately 6 hours with the optional WB37 external battery installed. Charging time is about 2 hours either way. Real-world runtime depends on display brightness, signal conditions, and how often the controller is actively transmitting versus idle.
How is this different from the original RC Plus (DJI RC Plus Enterprise)?
The RC Plus 2 Enterprise is the newer generation, with O4+ Enterprise transmission (vs. O3 Enterprise on the original RC Plus) and an updated feature set for the current Matrice 4 and Matrice 400 lineup. The original RC Plus is the correct controller for the Matrice 350 RTK and Matrice 30 Series. The two generations are not cross-compatible with each other's aircraft.
What's the range?
Up to 25 km maximum transmission distance under FCC rules (12 km under CE / SRRC / MIC), measured in unobstructed conditions free of interference. Real-world range is shorter and depends on terrain, building density, RF interference, and weather. In obstructed environments, the D-RTK 3 Multifunctional Station in Relay Fixed Deployment Version can extend usable range significantly, and the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 adds 4G-enhanced transmission as a backup.
Can I use it as a second controller alongside another RC Plus 2?
Yes. The RC Plus 2 Enterprise supports DJI's dual-control workflow, where one controller flies the aircraft and a second controls the gimbal and payload independently. This is the standard setup for cinema work, complex inspection missions, and any operation where splitting flight and sensor duties between two operators improves quality or safety.
What operating system does it run?
Android 11. The controller runs DJI Pilot 2 as its primary application, with additional DJI enterprise software available through the standard installation paths. Third-party Android apps can be installed where compatible, though most operators use the controller exclusively for DJI Pilot 2 and DJI's enterprise applications.
Does the cellular dongle come with it?
No. The DJI Cellular Dongle 2 is sold separately and is not required for normal operation. It's used to add 4G-enhanced transmission for obstructed environments, BVLOS operations, or remote site deployments where line-of-sight RF link is insufficient. Most operators add the dongle only if their mission profile requires it.
Will it work in cold weather?
Yes. The operating temperature range is -20 °C to 50 °C (-4 °F to 122 °F), and the controller's charging temperature is 5 °C to 40 °C. For cold-weather operations, keep the controller in a warmed case or vehicle until takeoff, and keep batteries near room temperature for charging. The IP54 rating provides protection against rain, snow, and dust within the controller's operating limits.
