DJI Dock 3 is a rugged, all-weather drone-in-a-box that houses a single DJI Matrice 4D or Matrice 4TD aircraft for 24/7 remote and automated operations. It is the first DJI dock to support mobile, vehicle-mounted deployment, so the same system that works as a fixed site can be driven between locations and launched on arrival. With DJI FlightHub 2, an operator can schedule and run missions remotely, with the aircraft charging from 15% to 95% in about 27 minutes between flights. The dock is built to run in harsh conditions, rated IP56 with an operating range of -30 °C to 50 °C.

The aircraft: Matrice 4D and Matrice 4TD
Dock 3 ships with one of two purpose-built airframes. Both use the same camera platform as the Matrice 4 Series with improved flight and protection performance, and both can also pair with the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise for standalone use.
- Matrice 4D. Wide-angle (4/3 CMOS, 20 MP), medium tele, and tele cameras plus a laser rangefinder. Best where high-resolution visible imaging is the priority.
- Matrice 4TD. Adds an uncooled infrared thermal camera (640 × 512, 30 Hz) and NIR auxiliary light alongside the visible cameras, for thermal inspection, search, and night operations.

Vehicle-mounted deployment
Dock 3 is the first DJI dock designed to be mounted on a vehicle, so a mobile team can carry the full drone-in-a-box to a scene and deploy without building out a fixed installation. DJI offers a dedicated Vehicle-Mounted Gimbal Mount that secures the aircraft and its gimbal during transport, protecting the payload from road vibration and keeping the system ready to launch on arrival. This makes Dock 3 suited to rapid-response and roving patrol models in addition to permanent site coverage.
Who this is for
- Public-safety agencies running Drones as a First Responder (DFR) programs that need automated launch on call, from a fixed rooftop site or a response vehicle
- Utility, energy, and infrastructure operators automating recurring inspections of powerlines, substations, pipelines, and facilities
- Security and monitoring teams that need scheduled or on-demand overwatch of a site around the clock without crew on location
- Industrial and construction sites automating progress, safety, and perimeter flights
- Organizations that need one platform that works both as a permanent dock and as a mobile, vehicle-mounted system
Notes and requirements
- Dock 3 is configured with either the Matrice 4D or the Matrice 4TD aircraft. Confirm which airframe fits your mission (visible-only vs. added thermal) before ordering.
- Remote operation runs through DJI FlightHub 2 (cloud, on-premises, or via Cloud API). 4G connectivity requires the DJI Cellular Dongle 2, sold separately and not available in all regions.
- After a power outage the dock runs on backup battery for over 4 hours, but aircraft charging, air conditioning, cover heating, and wind-gauge heating are unavailable until power is restored.
- Vehicle-mounted deployment uses the dedicated DJI Vehicle-Mounted Gimbal Mount, sold separately.
- Install and commission per DJI documentation using the DJI Enterprise app (Android) for deployment and commissioning.
Please note: Automated and remote drone operations are subject to national and local regulations. In the United States, routine operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) and remote/automated dock operations generally require appropriate FAA authorizations or waivers. Confirm your regulatory approvals before deploying a dock-based program. The aircraft, DJI Cellular Dongle 2, Vehicle-Mounted Gimbal Mount, and other accessories may be sold separately depending on configuration.
FAQ
Which aircraft does Dock 3 work with?
It houses a single DJI Matrice 4D or Matrice 4TD. The 4D is visible-camera focused; the 4TD adds an infrared thermal camera and NIR auxiliary light for thermal and night work. Both can also be flown manually with the DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise controller.
Can it really be mounted on a vehicle?
Yes. Dock 3 is the first DJI dock to support mobile vehicle-mounted deployment. DJI offers a dedicated Vehicle-Mounted Gimbal Mount (sold separately) that secures the aircraft and gimbal during transport so the system arrives ready to launch.
How fast does the aircraft recharge between flights?
About 27 minutes from 15% to 95%, measured with the aircraft powered off at 25 °C. This keeps turnaround short for back-to-back missions.
What weather can it handle?
The dock is rated IP56 and operates from -30 °C to 50 °C, with a compressor-based air conditioning system and heating for the cover and wind gauge. Built-in wind, rain, temperature, humidity, and water-immersion sensors let it make safe launch and recovery decisions. Max allowable landing wind speed is 12 m/s.
What happens during a power outage?
A 12 Ah backup battery keeps the dock online for more than 4 hours. During that time the dock does not support aircraft charging, air conditioning, cover heating, or wind-gauge heating, so power should be restored promptly.
What software runs it, and do I need 4G?
Dock 3 runs on DJI FlightHub 2 (cloud or on-premises) and supports the DJI Cloud API. It connects over Gigabit Ethernet; 4G is optional and requires the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 (sold separately, not available in all regions).
How far can the aircraft fly from the dock?
The Matrice 4D / 4TD has a maximum operating radius of about 10 km and a max flight time of 54 minutes. Video transmission reaches up to 25 km (FCC) in unobstructed conditions. In obstructed environments DJI recommends the D-RTK 3 Relay to extend coverage.
Is it a complete turnkey system?
Dock 3 is configured with the Matrice 4D or 4TD aircraft as a ready-to-fly kit. Some items, such as the DJI Cellular Dongle 2, the Vehicle-Mounted Gimbal Mount, and certain accessories, may be sold separately depending on the configuration you choose. Confirm the exact contents for your order.
