DJI
DJI AS1 Speaker For Matrice 4 Series
The DJI AS1 Speaker is a 15 W airborne loudspeaker designed for the DJI Matrice 4 Series (M4E and M4T). It mounts to the aircraft's E-Port and broadcasts live, recorded, imported, or text-to-speech audio to the ground at up to 114 decibels at one meter, with an effective broadcast distance of approximately 300 meters. Combined weight with the mounting bracket is approximately 92.5 g, and the speaker runs across the M4 Series airframe's full −20 °C to 50 °C operating range.
15 W airborne loudspeaker for the DJI Matrice 4 Series. 114 dB at 1 m, 300 m effective broadcast range, with live, recorded, media-import, and text-to-speech modes.
Features
- 15 W output reaches 114 dB at 1 m and an effective broadcast distance of approximately 300 m (DJI lab data at 25 °C, reference only; real-world distance varies with ambient noise, weather, and orientation of the speaker)
- Four broadcast modes for different operational use cases: real-time voice broadcasting with echo suppression, recorded broadcasting, media import for playback of pre-loaded audio, and text-to-speech for typed messages (English and Chinese currently supported by DJI's TTS engine)
- Mounts directly to the Matrice 4 Series E-Port hardpoint with quick-release hand-tightened screws: no tools required for install or removal
- Compact and light at approximately 92.5 g with the bracket installed (90 g without), so the speaker has a minimal effect on flight time
- Operates across the M4 Series aircraft's full −20 °C to 50 °C (−4 °F to 122 °F) temperature range, so the speaker is available in the same conditions the airframe is rated for
- Can be flown alone or alongside the DJI AL1 Spotlight on aircraft configurations that support multiple E-Port accessories

Broadcast modes
The AS1 supports four distinct broadcast modes, selectable through the DJI Pilot 2 app on the controller:
- Real-time broadcasting. Speak into the controller mic and the aircraft broadcasts your voice live through the speaker. Echo suppression is supported (firmware update may be required), which is useful when you're talking on team comms at the same time.
- Recorded broadcasting. Record a message on the controller and play it back from the aircraft on demand. Useful for repeating standard warnings, evacuation announcements, or other scripted content without tying up an operator's voice.
- Media import. Load audio files onto the controller and play them through the speaker. Supports simultaneous transmission and playback, so an imported file can be queued and triggered without interrupting the link.
- Text-to-speech. Type a message into the app and the speaker reads it aloud. DJI's TTS engine currently supports English and Chinese. Useful for multilingual operations or when a typed prompt is faster than recording or speaking live.
Who this is for
- Public-safety operators using the Matrice 4 Series for search-and-rescue callouts, evacuation announcements, scene-management instructions, or dispersal communication
- Law enforcement and emergency-management agencies that need a documented, repeatable way to deliver verbal instructions from the air without putting personnel on the ground in the immediate area
- Wildlife managers using the M4 Series for hazing or relocation operations where a controlled, directional sound source is more effective than ground-based equipment
- Inspection and utility crews working at height or over hazardous sites who need to communicate warnings or instructions to workers below without leaving the aircraft
What's included
- 1 × DJI AS1 Speaker
- 1 × Mounting bracket
- Quick-release hand-tightened screws
Please note: The AS1 Speaker is built for the DJI Matrice 4 Series (M4E and M4T). It is not compatible with the Matrice 30 Series, Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 400 Series, or any other DJI airframe; those platforms use their own dedicated speaker accessories. Verify your aircraft model before ordering.
The Matrice 4 Series E-Port does not support hot-swapping of accessories. Install the AS1 (and the bracket) before powering on the aircraft, and power down before removing it. The aircraft is sold separately.
Use-case considerations: Drone-mounted loudspeakers are regulated differently across the United States by state and local authority. Public-safety, law enforcement, and other government operators should follow their agency's standard operating procedures for over-flight notifications, recording requirements, and acoustic disturbance rules. Commercial use of airborne loudspeakers for advertising or marketing is restricted in many jurisdictions; confirm local regulations before deploying the speaker for non-public-safety purposes.
FAQ
Which aircraft is the AS1 compatible with?
The DJI Matrice 4 Series, specifically the Matrice 4E (M4E) and Matrice 4T (M4T). It is not compatible with the Matrice 30 Series, Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 400 Series, or any other DJI airframe.
How loud is it and how far does the sound carry?
Maximum output is 114 decibels measured at 1 meter from the speaker. Effective broadcast distance is approximately 300 meters in DJI's lab conditions at 25 °C. Real-world coverage is shorter than that and depends on ambient noise, wind direction, building reflections, and the orientation of the speaker relative to the listener.
How does it install on the aircraft?
The AS1 mounts to the Matrice 4 Series E-Port with the included bracket and quick-release hand-tightened screws. No tools required. The E-Port does not support hot-swapping, so install the speaker before powering on the aircraft.
What's the difference between the four broadcast modes?
Real-time broadcasting streams your voice from the controller through the speaker live. Recorded broadcasting plays back a message you recorded earlier on the controller. Media import plays back audio files you've loaded onto the controller. Text-to-speech reads a typed message aloud through the speaker. All four modes are selectable from the DJI Pilot 2 app while the aircraft is in flight.
What languages does text-to-speech support?
English and Chinese, per DJI. If you need broadcast in a different language, use real-time, recorded, or media-import mode instead.
Can I use the speaker and the AL1 spotlight at the same time?
The AL1 Spotlight and AS1 Speaker are both built for the Matrice 4 Series and can be flown together where the airframe and mission permits. The two accessories address complementary use cases: the spotlight for night illumination, the speaker for communication. Refer to the Matrice 4 user manual for guidance on running both simultaneously.
Does the speaker affect flight time?
It adds approximately 92.5 g to the aircraft (with the bracket installed) and draws power from the airframe during use. The impact on flight time is small in absolute terms but real; plan for slightly reduced endurance compared to flights without the accessory.
Is it legal to use a drone-mounted speaker?
The FAA does not specifically prohibit airborne loudspeakers, but state and local rules and your agency's standard operating procedures govern when and how the speaker can be used. Public-safety operations like search-and-rescue, evacuation announcements, and dispersal communications are common authorized use cases. Commercial use for advertising or marketing is more restricted and varies by jurisdiction. Confirm local rules before deploying.
