DJI AL1 Spotlight For Matrice 4 Series
The DJI AL1 Spotlight is a 32 W gimbal-stabilized airborne spotlight designed for the DJI Matrice 4 Series (M4E and M4T). It mounts to the aircraft's E-Port and puts a controllable beam of light on the scene below, with the gimbal allowing the operator to aim the beam independently of the aircraft's heading. Two illumination modes — Normal and Wide FOV — let the pilot trade beam intensity for area of coverage on the fly. Combined weight with the mounting bracket is approximately 99 g, and the spotlight runs across the M4 Series airframe's full −20 °C to 50 °C operating range.
32 W gimbal-stabilized spotlight for the DJI Matrice 4 Series. Two illumination modes, always-on and strobe, with a controllable beam covering up to 2,200 m² at 100 m altitude.
Features
- 32 W output delivering 4.3 ±0.2 lux at 100 m and 17 ±0.2 lux at 50 m (DJI lab data at 25 °C with the spotlight installed alone; real-world illuminance varies with altitude, weather, and beam orientation)
- Gimbal-stabilized beam with a controllable tilt range of −90° to 35° at up to 120°/s, and ±0.1° alignment accuracy: you can hold the light on a target while the aircraft maneuvers around it
- Two illumination modes selectable in flight. Normal mode focuses the beam for intensity (1,300 m² effective area at 100 m, 10% relative illumination). Wide FOV mode broadens the beam for area coverage (2,200 m² at 100 m, 10% central illuminance).
- Always-on and strobe operating modes for steady illumination or attention-getting flash patterns
- Mounts directly to the Matrice 4 Series E-Port hardpoint with quick-release hand-tightened screws: no tools required for install or removal
- Compact and light at approximately 99 g with the bracket installed (about 91 g without), so the spotlight has a manageable effect on flight time
- Operates across the M4 Series aircraft's full −20 °C to 50 °C (−4 °F to 122 °F) temperature range, so the spotlight is available in the same conditions the airframe is rated for
- Can be flown alone or alongside the DJI AS1 Speaker on aircraft configurations that support multiple E-Port accessories

Illumination modes
The AL1 supports two illumination modes, selectable through the DJI Pilot 2 app on the controller. Both modes can be combined with always-on or strobe output.
- Normal mode. Focused beam with higher intensity at the center, covering an effective area of 1,300 m² at 100 m altitude (10% relative illumination). Use this when you need to pick out detail at distance or push the beam farther down-range.
- Wide FOV mode. Broader beam pattern that covers approximately 2,200 m² at 100 m altitude (10% central illuminance). Use this when area coverage matters more than reach, such as scanning a wider zone in search-and-rescue or lighting up a perimeter.
- Strobe. Flashing output for visibility, attention, or signaling. Available alongside both Normal and Wide FOV modes.
Who this is for
- Public-safety operators using the Matrice 4 Series for night search-and-rescue, missing-person sweeps, suspect tracking, or scene illumination
- Law enforcement and emergency-management agencies that need a steerable light from above to put eyes on a location without ground crews holding handheld lights
- Fire-service crews illuminating staging areas, access routes, or active scenes from above during overnight or low-light response
- Inspection and utility operators working in tunnels, under bridges, around towers, or other low-light environments where the standard aircraft NAV lights are not enough
- Operators conducting overnight perimeter checks at facilities, infrastructure, or events where a controllable airborne light extends ground-team visibility
What's included
- 1 × DJI AL1 Spotlight
- 1 × Mounting bracket
- Quick-release hand-tightened screws
Please note: The AL1 Spotlight is built for the DJI Matrice 4 Series (M4E and M4T). It is not compatible with the Matrice 30 Series, Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 400 Series, or any other DJI airframe; those platforms use their own dedicated lighting accessories. Verify your aircraft model before ordering.
The Matrice 4 Series E-Port does not support hot-swapping of accessories. Install the AL1 (and the bracket) before powering on the aircraft, and power down before removing it. The aircraft is sold separately.
Use-case considerations: Night operations involving drone-mounted spotlights are subject to FAA night-flight rules under Part 107 and may require additional waivers or approvals depending on the operation. Public-safety operators should follow their agency's standard operating procedures for night flight, aerial illumination, and any over-flight notification requirements. Aim the beam responsibly: directing a spotlight into the eyes of pilots, drivers, or pedestrians can create real safety hazards.
FAQ
Which aircraft is the AL1 compatible with?
The DJI Matrice 4 Series, specifically the Matrice 4E (M4E) and Matrice 4T (M4T). It is not compatible with the Matrice 30 Series, Matrice 350 RTK, Matrice 400 Series, or any other DJI airframe.
How bright is it and how far does it reach?
The spotlight produces 4.3 ±0.2 lux at 100 meters from the aircraft and 17 ±0.2 lux at 50 meters, in DJI's lab conditions at 25 °C with the spotlight installed alone on the aircraft. Effective illumination area is 1,300 m² at 100 m in Normal mode and 2,200 m² at 100 m in Wide FOV mode. Real-world performance is shorter than lab figures and depends on altitude, atmospheric conditions, and target reflectivity.
What is the difference between Normal mode and Wide FOV mode?
Normal mode produces a focused, brighter beam with greater reach and a smaller effective area (1,300 m² at 100 m). Wide FOV mode broadens the beam pattern to cover roughly 70% more ground (2,200 m² at 100 m) at the cost of central intensity. Use Normal mode to pick out detail at distance; use Wide FOV mode to scan an area or light up a perimeter.
Is the spotlight stabilized?
Yes. The AL1 has its own gimbal with a controllable tilt range of −90° to 35°, a max tilt speed of 120°/s, and ±0.1° alignment accuracy. The operator can aim the beam independently of the aircraft's heading, which means you can hold the light on a target while the aircraft maneuvers around it.
How does it install on the aircraft?
The AL1 mounts to the Matrice 4 Series E-Port with the included bracket and quick-release hand-tightened screws. No tools required. The E-Port does not support hot-swapping, so install the spotlight before powering on the aircraft.
Can I use the spotlight and the AS1 speaker at the same time?
The AL1 Spotlight and AS1 Speaker are both built for the Matrice 4 Series and address complementary use cases — the spotlight for illumination, the speaker for communication. Refer to the Matrice 4 user manual for guidance on running both simultaneously on the same airframe.
Does the spotlight affect flight time?
It adds approximately 99 g to the aircraft (with the bracket installed) and draws up to 32 W from the airframe when at maximum output. The impact on flight time is moderate and depends on how often the spotlight is at full power. Plan for reduced endurance versus flights without the accessory, especially when running the light continuously at high output.
Does it have a strobe mode?
Yes. The AL1 supports both always-on (steady illumination) and strobe (flashing) output. Strobe is selectable alongside Normal and Wide FOV modes.
Is night flight permitted with this spotlight?
The AL1 is a lighting accessory; the rules governing night flight are independent of it. Under FAA Part 107, night operations are permitted with appropriate aircraft anti-collision lighting and pilot currency. The spotlight does not substitute for the strobe required for Part 107 night operations. Public-safety operators should follow their agency's standard operating procedures for night flight and aerial illumination.
