DroMight Talon V1 and Talon v2 FAQ

With the launch of our new version of the DroMight Talon V2, it is important to make sure all the information is in one place to help our customers understand which version is the best choice for them.

Is the Talon V1 compatible with both the DJI Matrice 300 RTK and 350 RTK?

Yes, the Talon V1 is compatible with either drone system.

Is the Talon V2 compatible with both the DJI Matrice 300 RTK and 350 RTK?

No, the Talon V2 is only compatible with the DJI Matrice 350 RTK.

What is the primary difference between the Talon V1 and V2?

The primary difference is that the Talon V1 uses a light sensor pod with the use of the strobe lights on the drone to activate the drop system. This makes the V1 ideal to use for the Matrice 300 RTK, as well as the 350 RTK. The Talon V2 removes the need for the light sensor pod and provides a more seamless solution by having the drop system activate via the PSDK menu on the controllers screen.

Why should I consider buying the Talon V2 if I already own a Talon V1?

The talon V2 is designed to integrate seamlessly into the drones PSDK menu system. This allows for the best user experience, and provides the pilot full control and knowledge of the drop systems status in real time during drone operations.

Is the light pod sensor included with the purchase of the V1 and V2?

The light pod sensor will only be included when you purchase a V1 drop system, the V2 removes any need for the sensor to be included.

Is the mounting Hardware the same for both the V1 and V2?

Yes, the mounting hardware and solution are the same for both versions of the drop system. This means if you already own a Matrice 350 RTK and a Talon V1, the Talon V2 will not require you to remove the mounting solution from the V1.

How can I tell the difference between a Talon V1 and a Talon V2 drop system?

The Talon V1 has an additional wire located on the side of the drop system, as well as the light pod located on the bottom strobe light. The Talon V2 only has a singular wire that will plug in to the PSDK port located on the top of the drone.

Are there any additional benefits the Talon V2 offers over the Talon V1?

With the Talon V2 the light pod sensor is no longer installed on the drone, this allows for full use of the strobe lights. This removes any limitations on when the drop system can be deployed.

If I own a DJI Matrice 350 RTK which version is the best for me?

We would strongly encourage our customers who own the DJI 350 RTK to purchase the new Talon V2, because it provides the best user experience and removes any limiting factors the V1 may have due to the sensor mounting over the strobe light.
