DJI Thermal / Visible Separator and Viewer

Select a flight folder and the tool sorts images into Thermal and Visible subfolders with the ability to copy positioning data into those folders for an easier post processing workflow. Everything runs in your browser so files never leave your computer.

§ 01 · OVERVIEW

What this tool does

Every DJI thermal mission saves each capture as two files. One is a thermal frame tagged _T, the other is a visible light frame tagged _V, both in the same folder on the SD card. Processing software expects those two sets separated. This tool does the split locally in your browser, in about thirty seconds per hundred captures.

Used primarily by public safety departments, utility inspection teams, fire bureaus, and construction operators flying the Mavic 3 Thermal, Matrice 30T, and Matrice 300 RTK with the H20T or H20N payload.

§ 02 · HOW IT WORKS

From flight folder to sorted output

  1. Fly as normal

Your DJI drone saves each capture as a _T and _V pair in the same folder on the SD card. No special mission setup is required.

  2. Transfer the folder to your computer

Pull the card out of the controller and copy the flight folder somewhere accessible. You'll need a Chromium based browser (Chrome, Edge, Arc) on desktop.

  3. Drop the folder in

Drag it onto the drop zone or click Choose folder. The browser scans filenames, counts captures, and previews GPS positions. Nothing is uploaded.

  4. Pick Copy or Move

Copy leaves originals untouched and places sorted duplicates in Thermal/ and Visible/. Move relocates them. RTK sidecar files can optionally be duplicated into both subfolders.

  5. Process

The browser writes the sorted structure directly to disk. A hundred image mission finishes in about thirty seconds.

§ 03 · WHY USE IT

Built for working thermal operators

Nothing leaves your computer

The browser writes directly to disk via the File System Access API. No upload, no cloud, no account.

No sign up, no watermark

Free as part of your working toolkit. Bookmark the page and come back after every flight.

Preview before you commit

See thumbnails and a GPS map of the flight before sorting, so stray files or missing frames surface up front.

RTK data stays intact

Sidecar files like .MRK, .NAV, and .OBS can be duplicated into both subfolders so each set is self contained for Pix4D, Agisoft, or DJI Terra.

§ 04 · COMPATIBILITY

Compatible drones and payloads

The tool matches any filename that ends in _T.JPG or _V.JPG. If your drone saves captures with that naming convention, it will work. Supported aircraft include:

  • Matrice 4TD
  • Matrice 4T
  • H30T
  • Matrice 30T
  • H20T
  • Mavic 3 Thermal
  • Matrice 3TD
  • Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced
§ 05 · COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

Does this work on iPad, iPhone, or Android?

Mostly no. The File System Access API only works properly on desktop Chromium browsers like Chrome, Edge, Arc, and Brave. It won't work on iPhone or iPad even in Chrome because iOS forces every browser to use Apple's WebKit engine. Recent versions of Chrome on Android can run it, but the file picker is designed for desktop and the typical SD card workflow is far easier on a laptop. Desktop Safari and Firefox also aren't supported. The tool will detect support and show a warning on any browser that can't run it.

Where do my files actually go? Are they uploaded?

Nowhere beyond your own disk. The browser hands the folder to the tool as a direct handle, and the sorted copies are written to subfolders in that same location. There is no network request involved in sorting.

Will I lose EXIF or GPS metadata?

No. The tool copies files byte for byte. All EXIF, GPS, flight telemetry, and thermal metadata is preserved exactly as the drone wrote it.

What happens to my RTK, MRK, NAV, and OBS files?

By default they stay in place. If you tick "Also copy RTK / positioning files into both folders," those files are duplicated into both subfolders so each sorted set is self contained for photogrammetry software.
