AVSS Drone Parachute For DJI Matrice 4 Series
Ships in 2-4 weeks
The AVSS PRS-M4S is a 149-gram parachute recovery system that bolts onto the DJI Matrice 4 Enterprise and Matrice 4 Thermal, deploying in under 0.5 seconds to bring the aircraft down at a controlled 3.80 m/s. It pairs an autonomous triggering system with a plug-and-play flight termination system, and ships with the ASTM F3322-24a documentation you need to fly Part 107 Category 2 Operations Over People.
FAA-approved Category 2 OOP recovery for the Matrice 4E and 4T. Sub-half-second deployment, 9.88 J impact energy, 149 g added to the airframe.
Features
- Sub-0.5-second autonomous deployment from the onboard triggering system, with manual deployment available through the PSDK
- Plug-and-play flight termination system that cuts motor power on activation, with an option for 0 meter / 0 foot deployment
- Average descent rate of 3.80 m/s (12.47 fps) and average impact energy of 9.88 J (7.29 ft-lb), well under the Category 2 Operations Over People impact threshold
- Total system weight of just 149 g (+/- 5 g), so the parachute has minimal effect on flight time, handling, or payload capacity
- Attachment bracket designed to mount cleanly without obstructing the Matrice 4 Series GPS antennas or sensors
- FAA-approved for Category 2 flight over people on the Matrice 4E and Matrice 4T, with ASTM F3322-24a compliance documentation included
- Energetic deployment technology for fast, reliable canopy inflation in low-altitude failure scenarios

FAQ
Which DJI drones is the PRS-M4S compatible with?
The PRS-M4S is built specifically for the DJI Matrice 4 Series, including the Matrice 4 Enterprise (M4E) and Matrice 4 Thermal (M4T). It is not compatible with the Matrice 4D / 4TD dock variants, which use a different AVSS system designed for DJI Dock 3.
Does this make my Matrice 4 compliant for flights over people?
Yes. The FAA has approved the PRS-M4S as a means of compliance for Category 2 Operations Over People when installed on the Matrice 4E and Matrice 4T. The system meets the ASTM F3322-24a impact-energy threshold, and the included documentation supports your Part 107 declaration of compliance.
How fast does the parachute deploy?
The autonomous triggering system fires the parachute in under 0.5 seconds from detection of a flight anomaly, and the energetic deployment opens the canopy almost immediately. The system supports a 0 m / 0 ft deployment option for low-altitude scenarios.
How is the parachute triggered?
Two ways. The onboard autonomous triggering system monitors the aircraft and fires the parachute automatically if it detects loss of control or freefall. You can also fire it manually through the PSDK using a manual triggering device, giving the pilot in command a positive way to terminate flight at any time.
How much flight time does the parachute cost me?
At 149 g, the PRS-M4S is one of the lightest certified parachute systems on the market. The added mass has a small but measurable effect on flight time and is offset for most operators by the airspace and waiver opportunities the system unlocks.
What is the warranty?
The PRS-M4S ships with a 1-year manufacturer warranty from AVSS against defects in materials and workmanship.
